What’s a piece of advice that you would give to an incoming student?
Buy an umbrella. One day I was walking out of my dorm to go to a Chem Lab lecture and I heard thunder. All of a sudden it began to monsoon. Because the campus is slightly hilly the pathways turned into flowing rivers and my short walk turned into a run against the storm to get to the lecture. When I finally showed up it looked like I had gone swimming in my clothes. It also just rains frequently and you do not want to get stuck in the rain on your way to class.
What puts a smile on your face?
I get really excited about eating brunch. I love waffles and eggs. My friends and I all like to make friendship waffles at FFC brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. We make giant waffles with ice cream and toppings and share them.
What’s your favorite memory since you’ve been at Hopkins?
Intersession was so much fun and I really recommend staying for intersession to anyone who has not. I was fencing with the team four hours a day but other than that I spent the day eating and with friends. I also had a good time bonding with my team and getting to know more people at Hopkins.
What’s something that has surprised you about Hopkins?
Before I came to Hopkins I was unsure if I wanted to join greek life. I am so happy that I decided to join Kappa and I have really enjoyed meeting older sisters as well as the girls in my pledge class. Going out and chit chatting with new people is really fun and exciting. The mixers and date parties give you the opportunity to dress up and meet so many people. It’s a social opportunity that you cannot find in other groups associated with the university.
