What do you want to be when you grow up?
I’ve always wanted to be an elementary school teacher. Either that or the next J.K. Rowling, which seems less likely (but not impossible!). When I’m older and I’ve made some money, I’d like to start my own Bed & Breakfast somewhere in a small New England town and cook delicious breakfasts.
What do you do when you’re not studying?
You can often find me hanging out with friends at the Hopkins Inn (my dorm – it used to be an actual inn where people stayed!) or having interesting, long conversations over a meal at the FFC, our freshman dining hall. Lately I’ve been getting into Irish step dancing, despite being half Chinese and Jewish. One of my friends started a beginner class this winter and a couple of dorm mates and I decided to join! I’m also training to be both a campus tour guide and a songleader for community services at Hillel. So I spend a lot of my free time memorizing cool, obscure facts about Hopkins and practicing guitar.
What puts a smile on your face?
Randomly running into people I know. Everyone is so friendly here, and the campus is just the perfect size for me to feel like I’m at an exciting university but still run into people quite frequently. It’s not uncommon for me to have impromptu conversations with people I rarely talk to and people who are my best friends.
