Thanksgiving is easily one of my favorite holidays. It is literally a holiday centered around food: what’s there not to like? Every year I look forward to Thanksgiving, but this year I was more excited than ever. This year meant more than just food comas and leftovers; this year meant seeing my friends who I have not seen since August, seeing my family for more than just two days, and most importantly, sleeping in my own bed for a week straight. I absolutely could not wait for Thanksgiving break, the perfect break between midterms and finals to just relax, eat good food, and enjoy good company.
Here are some of my recommendations of how to make the most of your Thanksgiving break:
1.Host a “Friendsgiving”. My high school friends gathered at my house for Friendsgiving! Each of them brought a dish, making it easy on me and absolutely delicious. I was so happy to reconnect with my friends after 3 months apart, and the food baby afterwards was very real.
2. Make breakfast each day. This may seem like a weird recommendation, but there is something really therapeutic about taking your time in the morning, because mornings at school can often feel rushed. I found it really relaxing to make my breakfasts, and getting creative with them was just a fun bonus 🙂
3. Hang with your dog. Considering you will probably miss your dog more than your family, this one should be a no-brainer.
4. Get work done in your favorite café. This could just be a personal thing, but there was always something really comforting to me about doing work in my favorite café in my town. Going back to it and doing my Hopkins work where I used to do my high school work was really cozy and familiar.
5. Spend a whole day in bed. You’ve worked hard. You deserve it.
