Favorite Hopkins Memory The 2010 Snowpocalypse — we had two blizzards back-to-back, and while our neighboring schools cancelled classes far in advance, we had the suspense of a nightly determination as to whether the next day’s classes would be cancelled. When all was said and done, we’d had a week off! I had a blast hanging out with friends and playing in the snow.

What do you miss most about being a Hopkins student? I miss the huge amount of free time and similarly-huge amount of options to fill that time. It can be hard to realize in the day-to-day, but you really do have a ton of unscheduled time throughout most of college and there are so many cool things happening on and around campus to take advantage of.

Knowing what you know now, what would you want to tell your pre-college self? It’s all well and good to come into college knowing what you want to do, but it won’t be the end of the world if/when you realize, despite the long-held plans, it isn’t what you’re going to do after all. There are plenty of people available to help you figure things out. In that vein, even if you know what you want to study and stick to that plan, take advantage of the broad class offerings and explore a little bit, because why not? Also, at the risk of sounding trite, enjoy yourself! You’ll have plenty of time to be a “grown up” later.
