How did you discover Hopkins and why did you decide to apply Early Decision? I first heard about Johns Hopkins when I watched Ben Carson’s documentary on the surgery he performed on the conjoined twins, and I thought it was really interesting. As I did more research on different schools, Hopkins just stood out to me.

What’s your best piece of college search advice for high school students? An advice I can give to seniors is that you need to have both the skills and the information in order to find the school that is the right fit for you and be accepted into that school. You need to work hard enough to ensure that you have the basic hardware the school is looking for. Then you should do a lot of research and ask people about different schools to see which school is right fit for you. Because even with the best cards in the deck (the cards being your basic grades and stats), you still can’t win if you don’t know how to play your cards, and even with the best strategies, you still can’t win if you don’t have the right cards to play. That’s just my opinion on the college application process and just know that everything will eventually work out in the end.

What are you most excited for about college and/or coming to Hopkins? All the new people I get to meet!

What book, album/song, or TV show has had a profound influence on your life? El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera

What crazy invention would you love to design? A daily commuter jet pack. I mean it’s 2018. People should be traveling to places in the sky now.

If you could give your junior-year-of-high-school-self one piece of advice, what would it be? Keep saying yes to the opportunities that come up.
