How did you discover Hopkins and why did you decide to apply Early Decision? During my college search process I came across Hopkins and was instantly drawn to the great opportunities and resources it offers students who want to go into medicine.
Who is the most influential person in your life? My mother. She has made so many sacrifices for my brother and I. Despite the odds she’s been able to make a life for us in this country.
If you could teach one class at Hopkins, what would it be? (already exists or invented by you!) Childcare and development!
Is there a quote or motto that inspires you? What is it and what does it mean to you? Before a competition my coach always says “Do gooder”. It’s hilarious and reminds me that there is always room for improvement.
How has your family background or life experiences shaped you? I didn’t grow up super well off but I always had what I needed. I think being a first generation American and a first generation college student has made me all the more grateful for education.
What’s your best piece of college search advice for high school students? Don’t focus too much on the school’s name, think about what’s going to be best for you as a whole.
What fictional character (Hermione Granger, Holden Caulfield, etc.) do you most relate to or most closely represents you as a person? Jess from New Girl.
What are you most excited for about college and/or coming to Hopkins? I’m excited to meet new people and travel to new places.
What book, album/song, or TV show has had a profound influence on your life? “A Girl Like Her”. It’s about a girl bullied into killing herself and how her decision affected her friends, family, and even the bully.
What crazy invention would you love to design? A toaster that puts butter and syrup on your waffles for you.
What do you hope to get involved in on campus? I’m vertebrae excited to see what JHU has to offer me and I hope I’ll be able to do lots of community service while I’m there.
If you could get ice cream with one person (real or imaginary; dead or alive), who would it be and what kind of ice cream would you get? Mint chocolate chip with Barack Obama.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years? (dream big!) A mom and an OBGYN (because women can have it all!)
If you could give your junior-year-of-high-school-self one piece of advice, what would it be? I would tell myself to breathe and to remember to enjoy high school.
What are you most excited to do in Baltimore? I can’t wait to see the National Aquarium and the Maryland zoo!
