How did you discover Hopkins and why did you decide to apply Early Decision? I went to an ID camp for soccer, and really liked the school. After staying with some of the players for a couple nights, I fell in love with it and decided that this is where I want to be!
If you could teach one class at Hopkins, what would it be? (already exists or invented by you!) I’d teach a class about Harry Potter. I know way too much.
Is there a quote or motto that inspires you? What is it and what does it mean to you? “I’d rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints” – Billy Joel, Only the Good Die Young. It reminds me to just have fun in this life, because who knows what happens after.
What’s your best piece of college search advice for high school students? Try to spend a night on campus, and go with the school that feels like home.
What fictional character (Hermione Granger, Holden Caulfield, etc.) do you most relate to or most closely represents you as a person? Algernon Moncrieff (The Importance of Being Earnest)
What is the accomplishment you’re most proud of? My high school soccer team went to states for the first time in school history last year.
What are you most excited for about college and/or coming to Hopkins? Making new friends on and off the team. Everyone here is so nice!
What book, album/song, or TV show has had a profound influence on your life? Harry Potter. It’s basic, but true.
What crazy invention would you love to design? A dream recorder.
What do you hope to get involved in on campus? I’m playing soccer, but I would also like to join a sorority.
If you could get ice cream with one person (real or imaginary; dead or alive), who would it be and what kind of ice cream would you get? I would get ice cream with Matthew Grey Gubler. He seems like quite the guy. I’d get butter pecan/coffee swirl soft serve.
Complete this sentence: “I would not be here on this journey to Hopkins if it weren’t for _________________________ (person/place/thing/experience/etc.).” Soccer.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years? (dream big!) Hopefully looking good in a pantsuit, with a secretary and everything. I’d live in New York but travel a lot.
If you could give your junior-year-of-high-school-self one piece of advice, what would it be? Senior year is filled with too many “lasts”, so make every moment count.
What are you most excited to do in Baltimore? Get Insomnia Cookies every day.
