How did you discover Hopkins and why did you decide to apply Early Decision? I’ve known that I wanted to go into medicine since I was a little girl, so Hopkins was something that was always on my mind. During the end of my sophomore year when I actually began the college search process and began looking into Hopkins, I realized that it has everything I ever wanted in a school. Then, I visited campus last summer and I just knew that I didn’t want to be anywhere else!

Who is the most influential person in your life? Most definitely my parents. They’ve taught me right from wrong and have shaped me into the person I am today.

Is there a quote or motto that inspires you? What is it and what does it mean to you? “Be kind for everyone you know is fighting a battle you know nothing about.” I think that a lot of times we don’t think about what other people are experiencing and going through, so I think it is really important to treat everyone with compassion and kindness. You never know, that may be enough to make someone smile or ease their worries/problems.

How has your family background or life experiences shaped you? I’ve grown up in a family that has always promoted our cultural values and traditions throughout my upbringing. I think that this has definitely helped me be very close with my family members and it allows for me to better connect with them. But also, it has caused me to appreciate diversity, and I really like learning about how a person’s background, culture, or heritage has impacted them.

What’s your best piece of college search advice for high school students? I think the most important thing is to find the right fit for YOU. It really doesn’t matter where your friends or family members want you to go. They always will want what is best for you, but you will ultimately be the one spending the next four years at wherever you choose. Also, although the process can be stressful, make sure you enjoy your senior year and spend quality time with people around you, because unfortunately, you probably won’t be seeing all of them as much once you are in college.

What fictional character (Hermione Granger, Holden Caulfield, etc.) do you most relate to or most closely represents you as a person? Happy from Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs. I’ve always been a very bubbly and optimistic person. There’s nothing that a good belly laugh can’t fix 🙂

What are you most excited for about college and/or coming to Hopkins? I’m most excited to meet new people and build friendships with them!

This is not exactly an invention, but for several years I have wanted to discover a brand new color completely unfamiliar to the eye. I’ve been making art for most of my life, so I like to experiment with colors up and down the entire spectrum. Seeing a new color would change how I view the world and would definitely make painting more interesting!

What do you hope to get involved in on campus? Volunteer/Service Organizations, Speech and Debate, and Cultural Associations

If you could get ice cream with one person (real or imaginary; dead or alive), who would it be and what kind of ice cream would you get? Ellen DeGeneres and I would get triple chocolate!

Complete this sentence: “I would not be here on this journey to Hopkins if it weren’t for _________________________ (person/place/thing/experience/etc.).” My family and friends.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years? (dream big!) Working on my residency to be a pediatrician!
