How did you discover Hopkins and why did you decide to apply Early Decision? In 2016 I attended a chamber music institute and met several students at Peabody. I didn’t want to major in music, but I looked into Johns Hopkins and loved the school! Hopkins has amazing resources to study public health, and when I visited, I felt like Baltimore would be a great place to spend college.

Who is the most influential person in your life? My mom. She’s the person I turn to first for advice and always tells me to pursue my passion.

What’s your best piece of college search advice for high school students? While it’s important to have realistic expectations in the college search, have confidence in yourself! Work as hard as you can on your applications so that afterwards, regardless of if you get accepted or rejected, you can look back on it and know you gave it your all.

What is the accomplishment you’re most proud of? I compete in Destination Imagination, a team based creativity competition. Last year at Global Finals my team won first place in the Instant Challenge portion of the tournament. It was surreal and I still can’t believe it.

What crazy invention would you love to design? Floss with loops on the end, so that you don’t need excess amounts to wrap around your fingers.

What do you hope to get involved in on campus? I hope to play in the Hopkins Symphony Orchestra and other chamber ensembles. I’m also taking a high school pottery class right now, and I really enjoy it, so I might check out the ceramics club.

If you could get ice cream with one person (real or imaginary; dead or alive), who would it be and what kind of ice cream would you get? I would get Thai ice tea ice cream with Michelle Obama!
