How did you discover Hopkins and why did you decide to apply Early Decision? chose Hopkins because I wanted to swim and pursue my education somewhere colder, more diverse, and close knit. After visiting from Florida, I realized that it met my three wants and was the perfect fit, so I applied early decision.
What are you most excited for about college and/or coming to Hopkins? I really chose this college because of the family dynamic I knew I was going into. Visiting the swim team and campus put my mind at ease traveling so far away from my family because I could see how close the people on campus and swim team were with each other. The diversity of this campus also excited me because my culture is shared by many others in comparison to my secluded hometown.
What crazy invention would you love to design? I want to create a boat made entirely out of water bottles and travel across some body of water. Me and my sister came up with the idea to recycle the water bottles for better use since our town does not recycle. We saved about 500 water bottles but we weren’t close to enough. After that, she went to college and the idea faded. When attending Hopkins this design could become a reality with help from the student body and we could even sail it on the harbor.
What do you hope to get involved in on campus? Well the 450 clubs help me realize there is never a reason to be in my room. I am positive at least 50 of these organizations will interest me. Just from high school I will be sure to join the debate club and gardening club. I get less and less sleep the closer college comes because I just get so excited over the new environment and clubs I envision joining.
