How did you discover Hopkins and why did you decide to apply Early Decision? I discovered Hopkins my freshman year when my cousin decided to attend the school as part of the class of 2020. I quickly realized that Hopkins was the perfect combination of academic rigor and social environment I had envisioned my entire life. As I completed more research on the school and after attending the Fall Overnight Program, I knew my decision to apply Early Decision was set in stone. There’s no other school that I could imagine spending the next four years at, and I’m so excited to utilize all the resources Hopkins has to offer!
If you could teach one class at Hopkins, what would it be? (already exists or invented by you!) The Art of Dogspotting
Is there a quote or motto that inspires you? What is it and what does it mean to you? “After every storm comes a rainbow.” This has basically been my mantra my entire life. Personally, perspective has played such an important role in maintaining a positive outlook on life.
How has your family background or life experiences shaped you? Coming from a very traditional Chinese immigrant family, it’s basically been drilled into my head to have respect for every person I meet and to never take for granted for everything I have.
What are you most excited for about college and/or coming to Hopkins? I’m most excited about meeting new people in college and playing tennis at Hopkins!
What crazy invention would you love to design? A machine that goes back in time without undoing any of your work so you have more time in a day! (And more time to sleep of course.)
What do you hope to get involved in on campus? School spirit/community-centered activities/organizations, publications and culture-oriented clubs!
What are you most excited to do in Baltimore? I’m most excited to explore Baltimore’s Inner Harbor!
