How did you discover Hopkins and why did you decide to apply Early Decision? I’ve lived in Maryland for most of my life and because Hopkins is so close, I’ve essential known about it for as long as I can remember. I decided to apply Early Decision after concluding all of my college visits–while all of the colleges I visited could be considered “good schools,” none of them truly clicked with me like Hopkins. From the immense number of research opportunities available to students throughout their time here, to the clear passion each student has in their area of study, to the accepting and friendly attitudes of everyone I met, I absolutely fell in love and just couldn’t have imagined myself at a different school.
What’s your best piece of college search advice for high school students? Don’t do things purely because you think that they’ll make you look like a better applicant and give you a competitive edge above others; do things because they interest you. Finding a few clubs, classes, sports, or other activities that you’re passionate about and interested in will make high school more fun and memorable! Writing about something that you love doing and have consistently stuck with is far easier than talking about your 50 million classes, clubs, and activities that you don’t really care about.
What are you most excited for about college and/or coming to Hopkins? I’m so excited for the research opportunities and experiencing a mix of new people, cultures, and environments.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years? (dream big!) I see myself helping others with science. Specifically, working with CRISPR-Cas9 to aid in perfecting the technology to help future generations of people who are carriers for genetic disorders but want to have children. I also see myself owning the cutest mini golden doodle!
What are you most excited to do in Baltimore? Definitely am looking forward to all the different restaurants available to try!!
