How did you discover Hopkins and why did you decide to apply Early Decision? After realizing what area of study I wanted to go into, I began looking for colleges that had the best programs. Johns Hopkins was a perfect fit due to its renowned International Studies program and proximity to D.C. As a Chinese American, I also appreciated Johns Hopkins’s diversity. I love meeting people from all spheres of life and learning about different cultures. When it came time to choose where I wanted to ED, I felt JHU was where I would grow the most.
What are you most excited for about college and/or coming to Hopkins? Meeting my classmates whom I’ve been chatting with on social media since decisions were released. Studying abroad in Spain and/or Italy. Eating things from the Bamboo Cafe. Gorging myself at the FFC. Scaring my Californian friends with my tolerance for the cold. And of course, my classes and meeting my professors!
Is there a quote or motto that inspires you? What is it and what does it mean to you? My favorite quote has to be “What’s past is prologue” from Shakespeare’s The Tempest. Not only does it hint at my love for history and literature but it also shares a lesson. Anything and everything that has already happened has influenced the present. They cannot be changed. However, whatever happens next has yet to be written, and it is up to you to write it.
