How did you discover Hopkins and why did you decide to apply Early Decision? I discovered Johns Hopkins through a friend, who had graduated the previous year. Also, in middle school, I watched the movie “Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story.” This gave me a faint idea that Johns Hopkins is a very special and unique school, with people like Ben Carson thriving there and becoming successful. Intrigued about the school, along with the research I did, I felt that Johns Hopkins would be a great school for me to aim for and apply to ED.

How has your family background or life experiences shaped you? I come from two distinct cultures. Both of my parents are from China, but I was born in America. As an American-Born Citizen, I have experienced both the customs here in America as well as the traditions in China, from celebrating Halloween to the Mid Autumn Festival. I have a firm understanding of seeing things through different cultural lenses and having an open mind in decision making and defining who I am today.
