How did you discover Hopkins and why did you decide to apply Early Decision? Ever since I was a little girl, I looked up to Hopkins as THE medical school. With the mindset that only the best of the best would be accepted, I was driven to become the best that I could be. During spring break of my junior year, I decided that I wanted to see what the campus and social atmosphere were like. My first step onto campus was when I knew that I wanted to go to this amazing school full of immense opportunities. Because of my certainty, I decided to apply early decision.
What’s your best piece of college search advice for high school students? Go. For. It. Especially when the time to apply for colleges was approaching, I was becoming insecure of my abilities increasingly every day. At one point, I even considered not applying to Hopkins because I thought I wasn’t what they were looking for in a student. Then, I said to myself, “Sarah, what do you have to lose. Let’s just apply, and if you don’t get in then it’s not the end of the world.” So I did, and I’m SO glad I gave it a chance!!
What are you most excited for about college and/or coming to Hopkins? I’m genuinely so ecstatic to meet new people. I feel like it’s healthy for everyone to have a fresh start at times, and the fact that I have the chance to do that, especially at my dream school, is amazing. Since I’m from a fairly small town and have lived there my whole life, it would be really cool to meet people with different backgrounds and stories!
If you could get ice cream with one person, who would it be and what kind of ice cream would you get? If I could get ice cream with one person, it would definitely be Rex Orange County. When I say I love Rex Orange County, I mean I LOVE Rex Orange County. Meeting him AND eating my favorite ice cream, Ben & Jerry’s Americone Dream, would genuinely be the “Americone Dream”. (you see what i did there 🙂 )
If you could give your junior-year-of-high-school-self one piece of advice, what would it be? I would definitely tell myself not to worry as much about my future and to just cruise on the wave of life. Everything happens for a reason, and everything will work out in the end!
What are you most excited to do in Baltimore? Eat good food!!!
