How did you discover Hopkins and why did you decide to apply Early Decision? When visiting during my junior year spring break, the vibrant enthusiasm the students had for learning on campus was extremely visible. I quickly realized that that energy was essential to my college experience. I then attended the Johns Hopkins Medical School Intensive Summer Program and continued to not only fall in love with the campus itself, but also with what the city of Baltimore offers. The exposure I got to medicine at Homewood and the medical campus was fantastic, and made it clear to me that the experiences I would have at Hopkins would not fail to teach me about the field of medicine in the most amazing ways.

How has your family background or life experiences shaped you? My family immigrated to the United States from Israel when I was two and a half, and afterwards, moved multiple times, leading me to live in New York, Indiana, and two cities in Illinois. These significant changes in my life allowed me to become more open and look forward to new things, as well as feel fortunate for what I have and what I have learned over time. I am now counting down the days for my next (and hopefully the best in my life) change: college!

What’s your best piece of college search advice for high school students? Research as much as possible and plan ahead! Gather information about schools from every website you can find, and take your time when creating your college list. I made sure to visit as many universities as possible, which really opened my mind up to exactly what I wanted from a school.

What are you most excited for about college and/or coming to Hopkins? I am most excited for not only meeting everyone and learning about who they are and what they are passionate about, but also meeting the outstanding faculty members at Hopkins. I look forward to the independence and the control I will have over my schedule. I can’t wait to expand my knowledge in the field of medicine!

What do you hope to get involved in on campus? I am planning on getting involved with as much research as possible. I also hope to become a tour guide and take a part in the ceramics club at Hopkins.

What are you most excited to do in Baltimore? Explore all of the museums and restaurants!
