How did you discover Hopkins and why did you decide to apply Early Decision? A teacher had told me about Hopkins because she knew I was passionate about medicine and biology, especially genetics. I went to an information session in Minnesota, and liked the idea that students can explore and take classes based on their passion. Hopkins was the first college campus I ever toured or had seen, and me and my family fell in love as soon as we set foot on campus. Our tour guide painted Hopkins into a beautiful and limitless experience, where students are truly feel free to take advantage of campus resources and opportunities. Hopkins had everything I was looking for in a college in terms of academics and culture. Applying Early Decision felt like the natural decision to make.
If you could teach one class at Hopkins, what would it be? Ancient Medicine! It combines my love for medicine and understanding how treatments affect the human body with my passion for ancient history, especially Roman and Greek! I find European culture to be so beautiful and rich.
Is there a quote or motto that inspires you? What is it and what does it mean to you? “Always remember that your present situation is not your final destination.”- Anonymous This is just a reminder that even though one small moment or day may seem like a hurdle and life-defining, it truly isn’t. I use this to bounce back from failures or times where I’m struggling. It helps me keep in mind what the big picture and end goal is so that I focus on moving towards that.
What crazy invention would you love to design? It’s not crazy, but I wish that cars had seatbelts that didn’t allow the car to move unless they were buckled. There would be a sensor to detect a certain amount of body weight that would require the seatbelt to be buckled, otherwise not allowing the vehicle to operate. Driving safety is so important, and there’s other areas that need improvement, but this is one thing I think about!
If you could get ice cream with one person, who would it be and what kind of ice cream would you get? Definitely Michelle Obama and soft serve vanilla! Regardless of political views, I think she as a person has valuable lessons and life skills that anyone could benefit from. She’s also truly someone who is their to help out of a pure passion for service. Soft serve vanilla ice cream is an ideal choice because simplicity is nice sometimes.
