How did you discover Hopkins and why did you decide to apply Early Decision? I went on a tour of the Hopkins’ Homewood Campus this past spring and fell in love with the school! The amazing research opportunities, opportunity to take classes in a variety of interests, smaller community, diversity, and proximity to home made it my dream school. I decided to apply Early Decision because JHU was my top school and I wanted to give my best shot to become a Blue Jay!
If you could teach one class at Hopkins, what would it be? The Science Behind Cream Puffs (Cream puffs are my favorite food and I would love to talk about them!)
Is there a quote or motto that inspires you? What is it and what does it mean to you? “Only compare yourself to the person who you were yesterday.” Whenever I feel down, I reflect on this quote and refocus myself to keep improving not because there is some impossible goal or status I must attain but because I’m trying to strive to be the best version of myself.
What’s your best piece of college search advice for high school students? Get started on those essays early! The more time you put in them, the better they become and the more confident you can be on submitting your application.
What book, album/song, or TV show has had a profound influence on your life? The Opposite of Loneliness by Marina Keegan, my favorite book and it’s just refreshing and inspiring to read.
What is the accomplishment you’re most proud of? I’m proud of living everyday with a smile, hoping to encourage others to smile and be more happy as well.
Complete this sentence: “I would not be here on this journey to Hopkins if it weren’t for _________________________.” My writing center team! I’ve tutored in my writing center for two years, and the other tutors and my amazing writing center teacher, Ms. Passino, have been my support system and mentors to me throughout my junior and senior years as they are all so smart and kind. They have become my second family, and I cannot imagine my high school experience without my time in the writing center.
