How did you discover Hopkins and why did you decide to apply Early Decision? Living in Maryland, I had always known about Hopkins since it was the best university here, but I never expressed any interest in it. That was until I got a letter in the mail inviting me to an open house during my sophomore year. Out of sheer curiosity, I went. I fell in love with everything about it: the atmosphere, the facilities, and the students. I also remember the moment when I decided that this is where I was going, no matter what. Two years later and one Early Decision acceptance later, I’m finally making my way back.
Is there a quote or motto that inspires you? What is it and what does it mean to you? “Not everyone can become a great artist, but a great artist can come from anywhere” is from Ratatouille. It’s a rather profound quote because the more I think about it, the more inspired I am. Not everyone has the capacity to do something amazing, but you shouldn’t count yourself out just because of where you’re from or who you are. It taught me to never count myself out.
What’s your best piece of college search advice for high school students? You have to let go of the illusion of control. Do what you like, not what you think the admissions counselors would like. They can tell the difference. Find something you love and hold onto it tight.
What fictional character do you most relate to or most closely represents you as a person? Remy from Ratatouille. Why? Because that movie is amazing.
What are you most excited for about college and/or coming to Hopkins? New friends and new challenges
