How did you discover Hopkins and why did you decide to apply Early Decision? I visited Hopkins in the spring of my junior year, and it was really the one school that I kept liking months after my initial visit. It was the place where I could picture myself living for the next four years, so that’s part of the reason why I decided to apply ED. The other aspect of the school that was attractive to me was the stellar biology programs, specifically biophysics. Hopkins was one of the few schools I visited that offered this subject as a major, which really confirmed my feelings that this was the place that I could spend the next years of my life living and learning.
If you could teach one class at Hopkins, what would it be? (already exists or invented by you!) Beauty in Minutia: How the Little Details in Art and Design “Make” a Piece
What do you hope to get involved in on campus? Research! I have conducted adipocyte research with a lab near my home in my junior and senior years of high school, and I knew that this was something I didn’t want to give up in college.
What book, album/song, or TV show has had a profound influence on your life? Stalingrad by Vasily Grossman. I’m a big fan of Russian literature in general, but the way this book in particular describes the Russian people’s feelings and resilience during this time period has made me rethink the way I approach challenges in my own life.
If you could get ice cream with one person (real or imaginary; dead or alive), who would it be and what kind of ice cream would you get? Rocky road with Yuzuru Hanyu
