To support safety and public health during the Covid-19 pandemic, all on-campus events are canceled until further notice.

Name: Estelle S.

Hometown: Geneva, Switzerland

Anticipated Major: Neuroscience

How did you discover Hopkins and why did you decide to apply? I discovered Hopkins a few years ago, whilst looking for universities in the United States with a strong program in Neuroscience. I had the chance to visit the campus last summer when I attended Discover Hopkins. I had an amazing time and really liked the campus and the atmosphere, so I decided to apply.

If you could teach one class at Hopkins, what would it be? (already exists or invented by you!) Behavioral Assessment of Animal Models of Cognition and Neuropsychiatric Disorders

What do you hope to get involved in on campus? I definitely want to join Nu Rho Psi and get involved in some kind of community service, probably for children with disabilities.

What’s your best piece of college search advice for high school students? Don’t be scared to reach out for help. If you are not sure what you should write your essays about, or you need guidance from a student who has been through the process, never hesitate to reach out. Ask your family, friends, your guidance counselor, or people on social media. And always remember to choose a college that truly suits you, where you known you will be happy!

What fictional character do you most relate to or most closely represents you as a person? I would have to say, Mia Hall from “If I Stay”, not only because we both play the cello, but because she’s very close to her family and is ambitious. She works hard to achieve something her relatives have never done before.

Complete this sentence: “I would not be here on this journey to Hopkins if it weren’t for ______________________” my mom, who has always supported me in numerous crazy adventures and encouraged me to reach for the stars.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years? (dream big!) I will be pursuing an Md-PhD, conducting research in a specific area of Neuroscience, before finishing medical school and starting residency to become a neurosurgeon.
