How did you discover Hopkins and why did you decide to apply Early Decision? I first discovered Hopkins as I was searching for universities in my sophomore year. It was everything I wanted in a school and more with its close proximity to home, diverse academic disciplines, incredible variety of extracurricular activities, and overall campus atmosphere. However, my first on-campus visit to attend an information session and tour was what actually convinced me to become an early decision applicant. I spent the day witnessing how excited current students were to call Hopkins their home and quickly realized that I could not see myself being happier anywhere else.

Who is the most influential person in your life and why? The most influential person is my life is my grandmother. Despite being handicapped in both of her arms and legs she routinely dedicates the vast majority of her time and energy to caring for her family. Her visits are often accompanied by her working to cook and clean around the house until she physically can not handle anymore. And yet, when it comes to the time that she spends with her grandchildren she always has enough energy to spare! Her love inspires me everyday to mirror her selflessness and kindness in everything I do, and I hope to one day become the type of role model for someone that she has been for me.

If you could teach one class at Hopkins, what would it be? (already exists or invented by you!) The History of Music in Medicine

Is there a quote or motto that inspires you? What is it and what does it mean to you? I love the quote “life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, but learning to dance in the rain” by Vivian Greene. I use it as a reminder to myself that although life will always come with hardships, the ability to see the good in every situation is the key to turning a problem into a blessing.

What’s your best piece of college search advice for high school students? Don’t try to force it. Take some to figure out what you really want out of your college experience and then give yourself some time to explore all of your options. When you find the right one for you, you’ll know (even if it’s not what you originally expected!).

What are you most excited for about college and/or coming to Hopkins? I am most excited to meet new people at Hopkins! I love learning about others and am excited to create new memories with everyone.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years? (dream big!) I see myself finishing my residencies and preparing to start working as a pediatric cardiologist. However, I also hope to be working on plans to eventually open a non-profit children’s hospital.
