How did you discover Hopkins and why did you decide to apply Early Decision?
I discovered Hopkins when a friend of mine was looking at an art school in Baltimore. I looked up schools nearby and saw that Hopkins had my major and was known for research. I decided to apply Early Decision because of their research opportunities and their opportunities for study abroad.

Who is the most influential person in your life and why?
My grandfather. He is the reason my family is in the United States, and he is ultimately the reason I have any of the opportunities I have now. He is one of the smartest people I know: he learned three languages without having an education past elementary school. He was able to cross over to the US and get a job. He worked two or three jobs at a time for his family so they could continue living here. He was also one of the most compassionate people I knew. He would pick up all my cousins and siblings from school every day until his legs gave out, and he could not drive.

What do you hope to get involved in on campus?
Study abroad! I haven’t had many opportunities to travel outside the U.S., so I hope to broaden my horizons.

What’s your best piece of college search advice for high school students?
Make sure to look into what schools are financially viable for you. Check your parents’ income/expected family contribution to each university’s website. This is the best way to see if the university is possible before falling in love.

What book, album/song, or TV show has had a profound influence on your life?
Pachinko by Min Jin Lee

Complete this sentence: “I would not be here on this journey to Hopkins if it weren’t for _________________________ (person/place/thing/experience/etc.).”
Madison Nadler. She is the reason I found and researched this school. Otherwise, I doubt I would have known the school was a viable option.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years? (dream big!)
A professor at a university abroad! I love teaching, and I hope to finish my Ph.D. so I can teach at the university level. I hope to teach something along the lines of molecular biology.
