How did you discover Hopkins and why did you decide to apply Early Decision? To be honest, I don’t remember when I first heard of Johns Hopkins. I think that’s because ever since I was young, I’ve wanted to be in the medical field. I knew it when I was 5 and treated my mom for a “mysterious” made up illness and my resolve only grew with time, so when I was deciding on colleges, I wanted to choose the best one that fit my passion. Johns Hopkins is one of those colleges that has a name synonymous with medicine, so I knew early on that I was going to apply there, but I decided to apply Early Decision when I went there. I fell in love with the campus- the pristine marble, the enormous library, and “the beach” that looked absolutely nothing like one. I think my mind was fully made up when I learned about the education. I don’t know any school with the research opportunities that Johns Hopkins has and hearing my tour guide rave about Hopkins made me feel like it was where I belonged.
Who is the most influential person in your life and why? My mom because she’s the kindest, strongest, most selfless person I know.
What are you most excited to do in Baltimore? Try out all the food
How has your family background or life experiences shaped you? I think all my experiences have taught me how to be a better person. The bad ones gave me strength, the good ones gave me happiness, and the ones in between gave me hope.
What’s your best piece of college search advice for high school students? Choose a place that you’re dying to go. Don’t let anyone make you apply somewhere you don’t want to go just because it’s easy because in the end it’s where you’ll be spending four years, not them.
Complete this sentence: “I would not be here on this journey to Hopkins if it weren’t for _______________________.” My mom
