How did you discover Hopkins and why did you decide to apply Early Decision?
I discovered Hopkins through my older sister, Kuntal. She had mentioned to me that Hopkins was one of the country’s leading research universities, and since both of us are really into research, I was immediately interested. After doing some research on the university on the internet, I fostered an ever-growing desire to be a Blue Jay, and after visiting the university in the summer before my senior year, I was sold! I loved the ambiance and energy around campus, and absolutely NEEDED Hopkins to be my home. When I presented my college counselor with this intense passion, she advised that I apply ED, and I did!
What’s your best piece of college search advice for high school students?
Two things: (1) Choose the college that speaks to YOU, not the one that’s the highest up on U.S News and World Report. (2) Trust the process, not a single instance in time. One bad grade/university rejection won’t throw off all your future hopes and dreams of being successful — as long as you’ve worked hard throughout high school. Trust me!
Complete this sentence: “I would not be here on this journey to Hopkins if it weren’t for ________________________.”
My sister. She’s one year older than me, and so she’s really been a guiding light throughout my life. She’s taught me everything from how to tie my shoes, to how to succeed in school, and even to what the good TV shows on Netflix are — those are Friends, the Office, and Dexter, by the way.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years? (dream big!)
Out of Medical School and doing my residency (hopefully!).
