How did you discover Hopkins and why did you decide to apply Early Decision? I discovered Hopkins when I was in 7th grade and I watched the Hannibal Lecter movies, and he offhandedly mentioned going to Hopkins because of an internship. I decided to apply to Hopkins for reasons unrelated to horror movies, which include: research opportunities, a diverse student body, and because of how different yet similar Baltimore is compared to LA.
Who is the most influential person in your life and why? Nikki, my twin sister, is my best friend. I don’t know if it’s the shared DNA or magic, but we know each other inside and out and I know I’ll always have someone that understands me. I’m scared to be far away from her throughout college, but I’m happy that I’ll learn how to manage being apart from her.
If you could teach one class at Hopkins, what would it be? (already exists or invented by you!) I would teach “Theorizing Popular Culture” because I love fan studies and seeing how it connects to the world around me.
What are you most excited to do in Baltimore? I can’t wait to eat a Berger Cookie!
What book, album/song, or TV show has had a profound influence on your life? I’m pretty sure Oobi taught me how to communicate my feelings in the summer of ‘06
What fictional character do you most relate to or most closely represents you as a person? I’m Spock minus all of the emotional repression and Vulcan brain cells.
If you could get ice cream with one person (real or imaginary; dead or alive), who would it be and what kind of ice cream would you get? I would get ice cream with a 1970s Jim Henson and order a Dragonfly Ripple (from The Muppet Movie).
