How did you discover Hopkins and why did you decide to apply Early Decision? In my college search process, I kept finding universities that seemed appealing enough, though none really stood out to me. Upon discovering Hopkins, it instantly seemed as if all my favorite parts of other universities were pieced together in one experience. Besides the research and academic opportunities, the values Hopkins holds relayed exactly what kind of community I wanted to be a part of for the college experience. Though I lived abroad and didn’t have the chance to visit, the virtual tour let me picture myself at Hopkins’s campus. Though it seemed like a long shot, I knew I would choose Hopkins over any other university, so I tested my luck and applied early!
Who is the most influential person in your life and why? Definitely my parents. They’ve built everything from nothing and inspire me to strive beyond “good enough” daily
If you could teach one class at Hopkins, what would it be? (already exists or invented by you!) The Fate of Humanity: Superiority or Demise
What’s your best piece of college search advice for high school students? Have faith in yourself, and go for it! You have nothing to lose, so don’t let thinking you aren’t good enough for a particular university to stop you from applying. You never know what they might be looking for that particular year, so it’s always worth a shot.
What are you most excited for about college and/or coming to Hopkins? I’ve never moved before, so this will definitely be a big change. But I’m most excited about meeting new people and being part of another diverse community that will allow me to grow not only as a student but as a person. Growing up in an international community I’ve learned that you learn the most from those around you, so I’m looking forward to exchanging creative ideas with other Hopkins students and helping each other develop.
