How did you discover Hopkins and why did you decide to apply Early Decision? I heard about Hopkins through some friends and fell in love when I researched it. I loved the opportunities available for pre-med students and knew I wanted to be a Blue Jay!
Who is the most influential person in your life and why? My mom is the most influential person in my life; She has always reminded me that hard work is the only key to success and has embodied that ideal herself.
If you could teach one class at Hopkins, what would it be? (already exists or invented by you!) Neuroscience and music – I’d love to combine my passion for music with my interest in neuroscience and teach the ways that music can affect our brain.
Is there a quote or motto that inspires you? What is it and what does it mean to you? “Rattle the stars” – Sarah J. Maas. I read it in a book a few years ago and it’s stuck with me ever since. It always reminds me that the stars are the limit and that you can do anything you put your mind to.
How has your family background or life experiences shaped you? Living in 5 states across 3 countries has really helped broaden my understanding and perception of the world around me, opening my eyes to the incredible individuality that every person, place, and culture has.
What’s your best piece of college search advice for high school students? Start early! Applications are time consuming and trying to finish everything during your senior year can be difficult. Start applications over the summer or as soon as you have information from the school’s you want to apply to.
What crazy invention would you love to design? A real life time turner! That would give me so much more time to do everything I want to while actually still sleeping!
If you could get ice cream with one person (real or imaginary; dead or alive), who would it be and what kind of ice cream would you get? I would love to get ice cream with Emma Watson. Not only am I a huge Harry Potter fan, but I admire the work she does as an activist and I think she’s an inspiration to girls around the world. I would get mint chocolate chip ice cream, it’s my favorite!
