How did you discover Hopkins and why did you decide to apply Early Decision? When searching for colleges, I had two things in mind: I wanted to go to the east coast, and I wanted a rigorous school that would suit my passion for the sciences. As it turns out, Johns Hopkins fit both criteria perfectly, and I already knew that I loved Baltimore from exploring the city with my dad a few summers ago, so that was definitely a plus. It’s been my dream school since freshman year, making the decision of applying early essentially a no-brainer.

Is there a quote or motto that inspires you? What is it and what does it mean to you? “If you look for the light, you can often find it. But if you look for the dark, that is all you will ever see.” – Iroh from The Legend of Korra. It’s a reminder to me that perspective and mindset can drastically alter the way you view the world, and it helps me to push through days where I find myself stuck in a negative loop.

What do you hope to get involved in on campus? Research! Both the knowledge that JHU is one of the top research universities in the US plus my experience this past summer doing working in a biotech lab have really made me excited to continue to get involved with research on campus.

What are you most excited for about college and/or coming to Hopkins? I’m excited to start making new friends. I wouldn’t consider myself an extrovert by any means, but I’m excited to start fresh and get to know other people on campus who are as equally passionate about similar things.

Complete this sentence: “I would not be here on this journey to Hopkins if it weren’t for _______________________.” my own refusal to give up my dreams.
