How did you discover Hopkins and why did you decide to apply Early Decision? Hopkins is well-known for its emphasis on research! Also, one of my best friends entered Hopkins last year, so I decided to apply Early Decision.

If you could teach one class at Hopkins, what would it be? (already exists or invented by you!) I would like to teach a class called “improve your efficiency”. I am very interested in compressing my time and exploring new ways of studying and working. So I hope I could discuss this topic with my students and learn from each other.

Is there a quote or motto that inspires you? What is it and what does it mean to you? A quote from the speech by Bill Gates and Melinda Gates at the commencement ceremony of Stanford is a real inspiration for me: “If our optimism doesn’t address the problems that affect so many of our fellow human beings, then our optimism needs more empathy.” It always reminds me that my work should focus on the social problems and needs of the marginalized people rather than just those advances and inventions that “leave the world even more divided”.
