How did you discover Hopkins and why did you decide to apply ED? I remember during my freshman year, when our whole class was writing to our future selves in four years, I wrote that I wanted to attend Johns Hopkins. For a while, I spelled it John Hopkins and, to be fair, I only threw the name out there because I only knew that it was a phenomenal research university for pre-meds. It truly wasn’t until my senior year that, when researching about Hopkins, I learned about its collaborative community and how, unlike other universities, research was so accessible—both being vital characteristics that I looked for in a college. I also had the chance of talking to current students and was more than compelled by how the undergraduate neuroscience faculty are so ardent about the field. Honestly, I can rave about Hopkins all day, but these are just a few reasons as to why I applied ED!

Is there a quote or motto that inspires you? What is it and what does it mean to you? “Your mind will always find ways to be consistent with the identity you create for yourself.” To me, this quote is a constant reminder that our minds are malleable and capable of changing itself. Whether it be bad habits like procrastinating or biting our nails, we are the ones who have control over our own lives, and we get to choose whether or not we want to continue these bad habits or change.

What are you most excited to do in Baltimore? I’m incredibly excited to explore Baltimore with friends and family. As a huge foodie, I cannot wait to find holes-in-the-wall, immerse myself in new cuisines, and of course, crabs!

What’s your best piece of college search advice for high school students? As someone who has gone through the college application process, do not limit yourself to only prestigious universities or T20s. Do not find validation in your college acceptances or rejections. Remember, at the end of the day, the college you go to does not matter because it is what YOU make of your experience. Shoot your shot no matter what!

What book, album/song, or TV show has had a profound influence on your life? A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years? (dream big!) In 10 years, I will be in my second year of residency as a neurosurgeon!
