Name: Divya R.
Hometown: Dallas, TX
Major(s): I’m not too sure yet, but I’m thinking about majoring in Computer Science and Psychology (or maybe Film and Media Studies) and minoring in Theatre Arts and Studies. There’s so many areas of study to explore, and I’m super excited to do that!
How did you discover Hopkins and why did you decide to apply ED? I had always heard about Hopkins, and once my sister began attending the university, I learned more about the endless opportunities at the school that encourage collaboration, inquiry, and friendship. I decided to apply ED because I felt that Hopkins was the perfect fit for me and my goals.
Who is the most influential person in your life and why? My mom is the most learned, humble, sacrificing, and incredible human being I’ve met. She’s given up so much to raise my siblings and me, and I hope to make her proud. 🙂
What are you most excited to do in Baltimore? I would love to go to Inner Harbor! I’ve seen so many pictures of it, and it seems so beautiful. Also, I’m excited to experience the fall season, as it’s mostly a summer to winter seasonal transition in Texas.
What do you hope to get involved in on campus? I hope to get involved with Tutorial Project, Camp Kesem, and performing arts and athletic organizations!
What’s your best piece of college search advice for high school students? Relax!! It will work out the way it’s supposed to.
What book, album/song, or TV show has had a profound influence on your life? “When Breath Becomes Air” by Paul Kalanithi made me rethink existing versus truly living.
What are you most excited for about college and/or coming to Hopkins? I’m so excited to meet super cool people from all over the world and hear their stories! I am also looking forward to taking courses and researching in areas that I haven’t been exposed to yet.
If you could get ice cream with one person (real or imaginary; dead or alive), who would it be and what kind of ice cream would you get? Without a doubt, Emma Watson. I’d probably get vanilla ice cream with strawberry slices in it.
