How did you discover Hopkins and why did you decide to apply ED? I got in the Center for Talented Youth when I was in junior high, and I determined to be a future scientist and researcher to contribute to this world—I dreamed of using technology and science to make a difference. CTY started my way of being a real scientist, and I really appreciate the encouragement and aspirations it has brought to me. So, in my ED app, I chose JHU—a place where I started, and a place I believe I will grow in. With its strong focus on researches and explorations to the unknown, I always believed it is the best place to fulfill my dream: Our vibes matched so well that I was even amazed.

Who is the most influential person in your life and why? Eminem. His rap has helped me when I was down: He had a harsh life, and he made it finally. The plight I’m in might not be harsher than what he’d been through. So I like him for bringing back my courage for so many times.

What do you hope to get involved in on campus? I hope to get involved in undergraduate research.

What’s your best piece of college search advice for high school students? Please consider yourself holistically—not only a four-digit test score defines you. There are more possibilities than what you accomplished in several hours in a nervous mood.

What crazy invention would you love to design? I always want to design a robot that can help me to shake, mix, and weigh chemical substances: these things do not have intelligence requirement but are a great waste of time. The robot definitely can help me in the lab.

What fictional character do you most relate to or most closely represents you as a person? Batman, definitely.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years? (dream big!) I want to be a scientist who works in Johns Hopkins Hospital: I want to utilize my knowledge to bring some breakthroughs to the medical field, which is definitely beneficial to human beings.
