How did you discover Hopkins and why did you decide to apply ED? Hopkins’ tennis coach encouraged me to apply ED and be part of Hopkins’ tennis team. The research opportunities I will get in the field of machine learning and AI is what convinced me that it was the best choice to do.

Who is the most influential person in your life and why? My mom who has always supporting me either when I wanted to become a professional tennis player, or when I engaged myself to pursue an academic career and change my long term goals. Or my uncle who introduced me to the computational world and gave me a dream: make an impact in the field of Artificial intelligence in the future.

If you could teach one class at Hopkins, what would it be? (already exists or invented by you!) Computer Science in Sports.

Is there a quote or motto that inspires you? What is it and what does it mean to you? “We think very little of time present; we anticipate the future, as being too slow, and with a view to hasten it onward, or we recall the past to stay it as too swiftly gone.” This quote inspires me because I’m a person that works hard for the future, still I never postpone having fun and living in the present.

What are you most excited to do in Baltimore? I’m excited to discover every part of the city. It would be amazing to go around town and discover Baltimore’s special places along with nice people.

What do you hope to get involved in on campus? I want to get involved in research, maybe join a club and I hope to get along with my tennis teammates.

What’s your best piece of college search advice for high school students? I’d advise high school students to look at the package deal the college is offering; they have to look at all the fields they will be involved in and see if all of them will fit, rather than being tempted by one amazing thing the college is good in.

What crazy invention would you love to design? I would love to design something that would use the raising power of computers and artificial intelligence to help athletes know their weaknesses so they can avoid getting injuries and losing a dream I once had. I know Hopkins research opportunities will turn my many crazy invention ideas to reality.

What are you most excited for about college and/or coming to Hopkins? I’m most excited about joining a new community, different from the one I was part of. I want to get involved in research, make new friends, meet new people, all of them in an enjoyable and intellectual challenging environment that will become part of who I am.

What is the accomplishment you’re most proud of? (big or small!) I was ranked number one in Lebanon in tennis for 8 years straight, and represented my country in many international tournaments.

If you could get ice cream with one person (real or imaginary; dead or alive), who would it be and what kind of ice cream would you get? My grand father that have always wanted to watch my high school graduation. Oreo ice cream.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years? (dream big!) I hope to be able to join my interests between computer science and sports. I see myself involved in the world of sports and creating something that would revolutionize it.
