How did you discover Hopkins and why did you decide to apply ED? I first heard about Hopkins in middle school after a CTY pamphlet arrived in the mail. Surprisingly, I made up my mind right then and there that I would go to Hopkins (befitting of the stubborn 7th grader I was)! When I was in high school, my friend, a student at Hopkins, told me all about the extensive research and volunteer opportunities there. By now, Hopkins was my dream school, but there was still one thing left to do: visit campus. So, my family and I headed down to Baltimore. As we toured Hopkins, I fell in love with the beautiful campus and vibrant student community. I knew that this was where I wanted to study for the next 4 years. For me, applying ED was a no-brainer.

If you could teach one class at Hopkins, what would it be? (already exists or invented by you!) History of Science, Medicine, and Technology.

Is there a quote or motto that inspires you? What is it and what does it mean to you? “Be the change you want to see in the world”—Mahatma Gandhi. This quote always reminds me to work hard and pursue my aspirations instead of just hoping for things to happen. If you want to start a new club, do it! If you want to advocate for a cause that’s important to you, don’t wait! If you have a goal, strive for it! The only thing holding you back is yourself.

What are you most excited to do in Baltimore? I’m excited to explore the city and find the best places to eat!

What do you hope to get involved in on campus? I hope to get involved with the Johns Hopkins Undergraduate Debate Council, the Advocates for Baltimore Community Health Group, Research in the field of biology, and Intramural Soccer.

What’s your best piece of college search advice for high school students? For each school you plan to apply to, take the time to understand its values and get a feel for the student community by exploring their website, talking with current students, and visiting campus (if possible). The more you know about a school, the easier it will be to communicate to them why you’re a good match.

What book, album/song, or TV show has had a profound influence on your life? Whenever I need a good laugh, The Office doesn’t let me down.

What are you most excited for about college and/or coming to Hopkins? Participating in ground-breaking research and making new friends!

What is the accomplishment you’re most proud of? (big or small!) I’m most proud of getting accepted to Hopkins! 🙂

If you could get ice cream with one person (real or imaginary; dead or alive), who would it be and what kind of ice cream would you get? I would have to get vanilla ice cream sandwiches with Barack Obama.

Complete this sentence: “I would not be here on this journey to Hopkins if it weren’t for _____________ (person/place/thing/experience/etc.).” My family. My family has always been supportive of me and my aspirations, especially throughout the college application process. My parents taught me the value of hard work and I am always reminded to lead by example for my younger twin brothers.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years? (dream big!) Hopefully, I will be working as a medical resident!
