How did you discover Hopkins and why did you decide to apply ED? I discovered Hopkins when I was searching for schools with open-ended curriculums and a focus on research, and it became clear to me that Hopkins had both of those things. It seemed like this awesome little community where big things happened all the time, and I had to be a part of it. Applying ED was my way of saying I was ready to dive into that community (or should I say ‘hop’ into it).
Who is the most influential person in your life and why? My parents, period. They have always had my back and have always wanted me to follow my own personal goals. Nothing I ever wanted to do or be was too big for them, and I have to thank them for believing in me in that way.
What are you most excited to do in Baltimore? I’ve never lived in a city, so I’m excited to get accustomed to city life, try new things, and especially explore new foods.
What’s your best piece of college search advice for high school students? The college search and application season is daunting, and sometimes things don’t go your way. That’s okay. There is always time to fall in love with a new school, edit an old essay, or look over an application, as long as you MAKE TIME.
What book, album/song, or TV show has had a profound influence on your life? I think the “Oracular Spectacular” album by MGMT really showed me how open-minded you can really be when you think about music. I didn’t understand a word of it when I heard it for the first time, but now know the record from front to back.
