How did you discover Hopkins and why did you decide to apply ED? Not too sure but I’m suspecting my first encounter with Hopkins may have been through K-Drama; with its myriad of research opportunities and unique academic atmosphere, Hopkins was the place to apply ED to.
Who is the most influential person in your life and why? I can’t narrow it down to a single person as both my parents have been vastly influential in my life. My parents have been nothing but supportive throughout my entire life and I feel immensely grateful towards them.
If you could teach one class at Hopkins, what would it be? (already exists or invented by you!) Plant genetic engineering / Oftentimes plant gene editing can be neglected in the face of wonderful research being conducted on gene editing in the context of human health, but I personally believe that plant gene editing, too, is a fascinating and much-needed area of research. In the name of raising awareness and learning more about this, I would wish to teach this at Hopkins.
What’s your best piece of college search advice for high school students? Don’t worry too much about where others have applied; instead, look for a place where your values truly align with theirs. Being honest with yourself is the way to go!
What are you most excited for about college and/or coming to Hopkins? Learning from and working with the brightest minds in the scientific realm.
If you could get ice cream with one person (real or imaginary; dead or alive), who would it be and what kind of ice cream would you get? Yuri (in the group IZ*ONE), mint-chocolate flavored ice cream.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years? (dream big!) Probably taking a “30 minute nap” or collaborating with my peers to develop a new drug to tackle a major illness.
