How did you discover Hopkins? Why did you decide to apply Early Decision? I discovered Hopkins through a WattPad story. I applied to early decision because it was the perfect fit for me. Hopkins has amazing research opportunities that would allow me to broaden my horizons. It is also set in the city, which will allow me to live out my material girl dreams.
Who is the most influential person in your life and why? The most influential person in my life is my best friend Christina. I have known her my whole life and she’s like a sister to me. She is always there to brighten my day and encourage me to have fun.
If you could teach one class at Hopkins, what would it be? (already exists or invented by you!) I would teach a World Religion class.
What are you most excited to do in Baltimore? I am most excited to just be myself and discover new things. I can’t wait to meet new people and make new friends!
What do you hope to get involved in on campus? I hope to be involved with the Inter-Asian Council, the Vietnamese Students Association, and perhaps join a choir.
How has your family background or life experiences shaped you? I didn’t grow up well off, so I witnessed my parents work extensively to provide for my brother and I. They thought me to work hard no matter what because my future is in my hands.
What’s your best piece of college search advice for high school students? Always start things early, and use all of your resources to learn more information about schools. Make sure to join video calls with admissions officers because they can help a lot with your essays.
What out of the box invention would you love to design? A candle wax dispenser that’s like a fountain drink dispenser
What book, album/song, or TV show has had a profound influence on your life? The Good Place
What fictional character do you most relate to or most closely represents you as a person? Blair Waldorf
What are you most excited for about coming to Hopkins? The Research Opportunities
What is the accomplishment you’re most proud of? (big or small!) My math award from 7th grade.
If you could get ice cream with one person (real or imaginary; dead or alive), who would it be and what kind of ice cream would you get? I would get strawberry cheesecake ice cream with my 5th grade teacher, Mrs. Houle.
