What’s something that surprised you about Hopkins?
How friendly most people were and how helpful everyone is in my classes. Not like the cutthroat things/reputation that everyone says.
What is your favorite thing about Hopkins?
The number of opportunities the school gives to its students. As an engineering student, I thought I wouldn’t be able to ever go abroad but I was able to go to China through the JHU BME exchange program with Tsinghua University. There I was able to do research during the week and then do all the touristy things in Beijing with everyone else who was also in the program. When we ran out of sightseeing in Beijing, we ended up going to Shanghai for a weekend.
What’s a piece of advice that you would give to an incoming student?
Meet as many people as you can the first few weeks of freshman year because people clique up really quickly. And if you are planning to graduate in 4 years, you will definitely have room in your schedule to take everything you want without overloading or having to do 18 credits every semester.
What puts a smile on your face?
Having free time and being able to hang out with my roommates while we watch a movie and do our nails.
What is your biggest goal as an engineer?
To actually use at least some of the stuff I learned/slaved over during my four years in any of my future jobs because I actually am not going into an engineering field.
What’s something you wish you got involved with?
Anything to do with senior class council or the senior class gift. I didn’t realize how much impact they actually had on campus until second semester senior year. It would’ve been fun to help plan and think of cool activities to do for the class.
What’s your guilty pleasure?
Binge watching TV shows (30 rock, Once Upon a Time, the Voice) while snacking.
What’s a change you’ve made recently?
Becoming financially independent and moving out from my parent’s place into my own apartment.
Why did you come to Hopkins?
It was close to home and for the BME program.
What’s your favorite memory since you’ve been at Hopkins?
This year’s spring faiiirrrr. It was the only spring fair where I wasn’t super stressed out about work so I could actually stroll around the tents and watch the chariot race and first time where I could get into the beer garden.
