Heading into my senior year, my resolution was to find and revisit the places that I really love and feel right. It can be easy to get stuck on campus, as Charles Village is amazing and has everything you need at your fingertips, but I really wanted to push myself out into the city. Makes me feel more adult, and I think it’ll make the transition of no longer being a Hopkins student in a few months a little bit easier.

These are the places that I’ll identify as “my spots.” The places where I have precious memories, where the experience of me being a 21 year old in Baltimore felt especially real. When I inevitably one day move, and return to Baltimore, these will be the old haunts I return to (spooky!).

(psa: yes, I am 21!)

Papermoon Diner
What: Restaurant
Where: Remington
What I’m doing there: Catching up with friends either very early or very late in the morning (on opposite sides of a night’s sleep, of course). Eating pancakes. Acting like I’m not lactose intolerant and ordering a milkshake. Taking snapchats of the crazy decor without being obvious.

Golden West Cafe
What: Restaurant
Where: Hampden
What I’m doing there: Getting dinner with my mom. Combing over the extensive, varied menu as if I’m not ordering a caprese burger. Acting like I own the place because I go there so much.

What: Coffee shop
Where: Remington
What I’m doing there: Trying to get off-campus without committing to a bus ride. Drinking tea out of the best, heftiest tea cups around. Staring longingly at Parts and Labor across the street.

Rye
What: Bar
Where: Fells Point
What I’m doing there: Enjoying the live music. Getting into thumb wars with strangers (true story). Applauding the fact that bars finally seem to be catching onto this whole “candlelight is amazing” thing.
