To support safety and public health during the Covid-19 pandemic, all on-campus events are canceled until further notice.

Hey y’all! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! This past week, I returned back to campus from St. Louis. Thanksgiving was the first time I’d been home since I came to Hopkins, so I wanted to share a fun recap of my adventures from home!

On Saturday, I woke up really early to go do something that is very special to me. I was part of the Speech and Debate team in high school, and some of my greatest friendships were made through this team. Coincidently, the team had a tournament that weekend, and so I decided to go surprise them! I only told one of my friends, and she was able to document everything in videos and pictures, which I’ve compiled above. I was so glad to be able to see everyone and return to an activity that I’ve grown to love so much. Later that day, I went to a festival for a South Indian Cultural Group that I’ve been a part of for as long as I can remember, and it was so fun to be able to participate in the festivities again!

Sunday, November 18th

I woke up fairly late on Sunday, and I can definitely say that it was so nice to catch up on sleep! In the afternoon, I HAD to make a trip to Andy’s Frozen Custard- a midwest favorite! Later in the evening, my family had a few friends over for dinner, and it was great to see everyone after a while!

Monday, November 19th

On Monday, my mom took off of work, so I was able to spend a lot of time with her. We went shopping before joining the rest of my family for dinner at Dewey’s Pizza- another midwest favorite that I’ve missed so much!

Tuesday, November 20th

I was so excited to see one of my best friends from home! We went and saw The Grinch movie and enjoyed the festive holiday decorations at the mall!

On Wednesday I was able to catch up with a few more of my close friends from home (and my friend’s adorable brother)! We got dinner, took pictures, baked cookies, and watched a Christmas movie.

Since Thursday was Thanksgiving, I spent a lot of quality time with my family. My mom made my favorite Indian Street Foods, and I was so full by the end of the day that I couldn’t hold myself up vertically!

Friday, November 23rd

Friday morning, I got breakfast with my childhood friend! I’ve known her for almost 16 years, and she’s currently a freshman at Northwestern University. It was nice to be able to update each other about our new lives at college!

On Saturday, a family friend had me over at their house for dinner! I’m so thankful to have such a great community back home!

Sunday, November 25th

a decorated Christmas tree       On Sunday, I set up our Christmas tree with my family! After that, I was off to the airport and I flew back to Hopkins!

I really really enjoyed my time at home with my family and friends, and I’m looking forward to going home again in a few weeks. Yet at the same time, I also missed Hopkins and my friends here while I was at home. I am so incredibly grateful to have two places I can call home, with such an amazing community in both places! I hope all of you have a wonderful holiday season with your loved ones!

Until Next Time,
